i love PARACHUTE!

So me and Kelli went to the Secondhand Serenade concert last night. Funny thing is, we didn't even watch Secondhand Serenade.
Okay, so let me start over. Kelli and I bought tickets for Secondhand Serenade a couple months ago for early entry into the park. We got to Thanksgiving Point super early yesterday and were like the third people in "early" line. It was awesome. Anyway, after sitting for a couple hours we FINALLY got in and were right in the front. That was also awesome. Until we got mauled by sweaty people. Seriously, I was drenched in sweat...and it probably wasn't even my own. That wasn't so awesome.

First up was a band called Single File. Never heard of them before.

Next up was We Shot the Moon. They were very very good.

Parachute came on next and OH MY GOODNESS...they were AMAZING. They seriously rocked! I'm pretty much in love.

Right after they were through performing, I tapped the security guy on the shoulder and asked him kindly if he would get me out of here. I did not even care that I would be missing Secondhand Serenade. I hadn't come to listen to him anyway. Kelli and I jumped the fence with the assistance of Mr. Security Guard, ran back to Parachute's merch table, bought a cd and waited patiently in line for them. I about passed out when they showed up. And then I about had a heart attack when it was finally our turn for autographs and pictures :] They were super sweet and nice and lovely and wonderful.

I squealed the whole way home. Yes, squealed.

Pretty much it was the best night ever.

this calls for cake and ice cream, right?!

So yesterday was my blog's first birthday! I just realized that. Its been a pretty lame year, huh? I mean, what, like 50-some-odd posts over the course of one year? Most people have that many in like a few months!

ANYWAY, here is little update of the past month (in no particular order)....

I received news of Andy's release date. DECEMBER 17TH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I ran my second race ever (...my first one being my marathon) and got second place out of the girls. Anyway, I received a nice little gift certificate to Striders. And trust me, it is going to come in handy. I'm wayyy overdue for some new running shoes. Like so overdue its bad, real bad. Like probably a good 1,000 miles overdue. No joke.

the dam race

I went on a picnic up in the Uintahs.

I went to a movie with my longtime childhood friend who I hadn't really seen since she got married! We saw My Sisters Keeper. And I think I was either teared up or crying during the entire movie.

I got some nice vintage items at some estate sales. Like a really cute wicker picnic basket complete with plates, cups and utensils.

I watched fireworks on the fourth of July by myself.

I bought a serger so I could make more aprons.

I bought more fabric to make more quilts.

I registered for school and forked out around $700 just for books and modules (Ah, I still want to cry when I think about it...the money AND starting school).

I took an online class from Miss Kara. She's awesome and inspiring. And she's only 17. It was a music art journaling class and it rocked. It made me happy. I'm still working on it (more photos on flickr).

I went to Public Enemies with Jacki. Mmmm...Johnny Depp is uh...awesome. :]

I've been keeping an eye on the demolition of my high school. Its kind of sad when you think about it. :[ KelliPirelli has a nice little post about it here.
box elder

And I've been trying to catch up on the Harry Potter movies. I tried watching the first one when it came out a few years ago and I hated it so I just never watched any of them. I am still not a huge fan of the first movie...but each movie seems to get better. I just finished the fourth one this afternoon. I almost cried when Edward...er..I mean Cedric died (umm...does anyone else think that Rob looks better as Cedric than he does as Edward...?) That was very sad. I'm a huge fan of Ron. He is my favorite by far.

Well thats about it. Maybe my next year on blogger will be filled with more posts. and maybe my summer will get more exciting. but probably not.

journaling rocks!

I love journaling. I have quite a number of journals stored up from when I was little. Sometime last year I was cleaning out my room when I found a few of my old journals. I started going back through them. I was amazed and intrigued by some of the things I had written down! Things that I'd forgotten about, things that made me laugh, things that made me cry, things that made me happy.
Thats when I decided that one of my resolutions this year was that I would start keeping a journal again. And I'm proud to say that I've kept that resolution.

I've been following this blog for awhile now and at the beginning of the year she started a project called 52Q. She puts up a journaling prompt every week. Every week I've been writing them down but I've never taken the time to do anything else. Well that changed last week. Now that I'm 6 months behind, I decided to start. So I did...and here are my first few.

week one
52Q - week 1 q
52Q - week 1 a

week two
52Q - week 2 q
52Q - week 2 a

week three
52Q - week 3 q
52Q - week 3 a

Really, you should do it. Its fun...its a stress-reliever...and its a way to keep track of your life RIGHT NOW. Take it and interpret it however you want. If you need inspiration, check out the flickr group. But do this project. Seriously.

I'm back!

To blogworld that is. Unfortunately, I really didn't go anywhere.
I've just been feeling very blahhhh lately and very uninspired.
So this is going to be short.
But not to worry...I have other posts planned.
So I will be back again. And very soon this time.

Today I:

was happy.
ran 10 miles.
got kissed by the sun.
ate a lime popsicle.
wrote a letter.
became friends with a yellow butterfly.
drank too much diet coke.
made bran muffins.
decided I wanted to learn karate.
decided I'm going to open an etsy shop.
read.

I'll leave you with this awesome time lapse video my sister made. She's awesome. And so are time lapse videos. I think I'm going to make one someday.

very busy week.

This week has been busy busy busy. Monday was just nuts and I was super tired by the time I got home from work that night. On Tuesday Sarah and I went shopping at the Gateway and then went to Matt (Matt as in Andy's brother) and Ashley's wedding dinner. Matt looked so very handsome and Ashley was gorgeous. They both looked so happy and cute! It kind of made me want to get married. Just a little bit. :] And it made me miss Andy. A whole lot. Wednesday was Kelbel's graduation. On Thursday I observed some more ultrasounds. I actually got to do the first part of a couple of the exams. So fun! I'm going to love it! That night me and Kelli were going to go to the Owl City/Classic Crime concert but we didn't because I'm too scared to drive in Salt Lake. So is she. Today I worked and then went to Matt and Ashley's reception. It was beautiful! It was almost EXACTLY what I have imagined mine looking like! It was an outside reception, Nate's (another one of Andy's brothers) band, Lokalgrown, was playing, there were cute litte white chairs and tables, cute flowery centerpieces, a yummy lemon-lime drink, delicious cake aaaaand her wedding video rocked.

Oh! I got my holga pictures back. Um, only about 5 of the 12 pictures turned out. The rest were either double exposed, too bright, too dark, or didn't work because I left the lens cap on. :] This one was my favorite.

I wish I would have known that I put black and white film in there! I have a lot of practicing to do obviously. I've already started on my next roll so everyone, please cross your fingers!
This also reminds me...I need to get a negative scanner....

I've had some time to squeeze in a little scrapbooking this week. This is a page I made celebrating our 5 year anniversary. And the next picture is of a card I made. Felt and buttons are my favorite. :]

I'll be finishing up my busy week tomorrow by running 13.1 miles, hitting a couple estate sales, going out to eat for Kelbel's graduation celebration, and working.

Now I'm off to move and organize my crafting supplies. Wish me luck!

new found love!

Okay, so a couple months ago I posted a picture of a quilt kit that I was really excited to start. Well I started it back then...but all I did was cut the strips. Then it got shoved in the corner. Over this Memorial Day weekend I pulled it back out. And finished it! Well not quite. All thats left is the binding which I am working on tonight. After work on Sunday I came home and laid out all the strips, pinned the back and the batting together and then began sewing. I wasn't able to get too much done because it was late but I was hooked. I LOVE quilting!!! When I woke up Monday morning that was the first thing I wanted to do. I worked on it for 5 hours straight and finished it...well except for the binding.

I think my favorite part is the rick rack. :]

I'm ready to start my next one. I'm going to start cutting my squares out of the Heather Ross fabric I bought a month or so ago.

AND I just ordered some more fabric for ANOTHER quilt pattern that I saw at a store on Saturday. It should be showing up in the mail any day now.
I think this is probably one of those hobbies that I should not have gotten into...

My sister and I went and saw Earth last night. And the best part was that it only cost $3.50 for the both of us (mmhmm...gotta love buy-one-get-one-free coupons and Tuesday Bargain night at a cute little twin theatre). Okay so that wasn't the best part...the movie was the best part. More specifically, the polar bears were the best part. They were so cute. I wish I had one for a friend. The movie was beautiful and it made me glad that I'm not an animal. Nah, it really opened my eyes. It was good.
I'm recommending it to everyone.

And sadly, my holga film still hasn't come back. I was informed that it could take up to two more weeks. Seriously?!!

i tumble.

I'm officially into tumbling. Is that what you'd call it? No, not the crazy break-your-neck tumbling. I'm talking about tumblr And I love it.
Seriously, just what I need. Another internet addiction.
Its a place where I can keep everything that I find that I think rocks. Poems, quotes, videos, pictures, songs, anything that I find pretty, lovely and inspiring. It keeps me a little organized. I always find things that I just love, be it a quote, a picture, lyrics, or whatever and I've totally cluttered up my computer with random word documents filled with the above mentioned. So this will be nice. It will help me keep things tidy.
You can visit me here if you feel like it.
Okay, I just have to tell everyone how excited I am that I'm finally getting my first roll from my holga developed. I can't wait!! I dropped my film off today!! I think I've made every mistake possible on this roll of film, from accidental double exposures to leaving the lens cover on, so we'll see how it turns out...uh...if it turns out. I've forgotten how fun it is to use film...its been too long! I've forgotten how anxious and excited I get waiting for the pictures to come back. Its always a surprise! I just loaded my next roll of film...and I can't wait to get started taking more pictures!
I ran across some beautiful holga pictures today and just thought I'd share one of my favorites!

this is random.

Yes, this post is filled with random, useless information.

I thought that now that I was through with school I'd be great at updating this. But I think I've actually gotten worse. Oh well.

Mother's Day was last Sunday so I wanted to give a shout out to my mom and to all the other wonderful mothers out there!

This is my mom and my beautiful grandmother. My mom was so little! :]

Mother's day also means that I got to talk to Andy. It was fabulous. I'm so grateful that his parents called and invited me over! He is doing awesome and I'm so proud of him. Just a few more months and he'll be back and then I'll be with him forever!

I've been having the most messed up dreams lately. Like bloody, gory dreams of people that I went to high school with getting cut up into little pieces and decapitated right before my eyes. So random and so weird. I'm think I'm going to start a dream journal. I need someone to interpret...I think I'm a little disturbed.

Now for a little TV talk...
First, American Idol. Well I'm excited for this coming Tuesday. I'm rooting for Kris. And Adam. :] But mostly Kris.
Adam has grown on me. His music is definitely not what I would listen to but he does have some amazing vocals. I love watching him perform because it is always a surprise. Out of the two, Kris is definitely more my type of artist.
Of course, for me, this season wasn't half as exciting as last season. I LOVED David Cook. Like really. I wanted to marry his voice. I still do actually. I listen to his cd everyday and thats not a lie.

Since I had to work last night I finished the season finales of The Office and Grey's Anatomy today.
The Office was great. It left me feeling a little sorry for Michael. And really happy for Pam and Jim. :]
I'm not going to say much about Grey's because I'm going to make Andy watch this season with me when he gets back home (and he will because he loves me) and I don't want to give anything away. But seriously?! George?! AH!

This song by Iron & Wine is one of my faves right now. Its been on repeat for a week straight.

Well I'm out.
Happy weekend!
xo.
